M4 Accident

On the M4 eastbound between junctions J10 and J8, there are currently delays of 1 and a half hours caused by congestion due to an accident closing the road between junctions J8 and J7. Road expected to re-open from 6:15 pm.

I was travelling east from Swindon, and from around J15 onwards, the matrix boards kept showing "Oncoming Vehicle" and 30 limit signs.
Just wondering if this was connected to the incident?

No, i called the cops about the oncoming vehicle at about 2pm or so. A little old lady in a blue VW Polo was trying to join the M4 at J12, but she was trying to join the westbound carriageway but driving eastbound down the exit slip road. ARGH!

Needless to say traffic very quickly built up as people emergency stopped in the first two lanes to avoid hitting said little old lady head on...

Whilst i made the call they put the "oncoming vehicle" stuff on the displays.

sounds like he crashed whilst being pursued by plod... hit the central reservation... got out and got hit by another vehicle....

Ahhh... I did wonder as I went passed it heading towards Reading from London why the polic car was damaged and up on the back of a trailor with the red car seemingly not so damaged. I guessed a police chase/stop of some kind.

So sounds like the guy hopped out of his car on the west bound carriageway and then hurdled the central reservation only to be ttted by someone coming towards London.

My sympathies got out to driver who had to hit him.
