M3 this afternoon Audi A3 well and truly on fire

Was on the opposite carriageway, car was well and truly ablaze didnt look like anyone else involved and driver stood nearby.

Always amazes me how people just carry on driving past. I would be worried about an explosion but people just drove on by!

So whats the alternative...

1: Stop next to it and offer a fire extingisher

2: Stop behind and watch

3: Slow down and rubber neck

4: Drive past and keep one lane clear.

5: Stop and offer the driver a lift home

Personally it's a car on fire and the geezer is watching it burn - get over it.
Mind your own business and get past with minimum fuss and get on with your own

Unless you're driving a fire engine theres nothing you can help them with stopping.

I'm pretty sure modern fuel tanks are designed with pressure release valves so they can catch fire but tend not to explode. Sure I watched something about it. So the only kind of explosion you get on modern car fires is tyres. Anyone know for sure?

Hmmm well I've seen plenty go bang and spray bits all over the place. One went bang just after I moved some bloke away from it, he was protesting at the time he was safe enough, strangly he never did say thank you after watching the area he had been standing cover in glass and other bits!!

First thing we do when we get there is closed the carriageway until it's out, even if it's on the hard shoulder. In this day and age 9 out of 10 don't go bang but when one does and catches the passing cars guess who gets blamed!!! Plus trumpton tend to put them out quite quick so it's only a small delay (that we cause, the rubberneckers do the rest!!!)!

....so are you saying all the cars that erupt in American films are fictitious events and wouldn't really do that and Hollywood have got it wrong....

Of course I wasnt suggesting some of the daft answers you gave, thank goodness some of the people on here like Landshark who know what they are on about can give a polite decent response.

I was genuinely concerned that others could be putting themselves at risk by driving right past it in the lane next door and wondered the likeliness of the car exploding to some degree. Landshark (who is a bib) has confirmed that it can happen
