my focus is making an unbearable noise which is driving me up the wall!

its a 1999 1.8 zetec with continental contisport contact 2 195/55/R15 tyres which ive had on since october shortly after i bought the car. always been aware of above average road noise but it seems to be getting worse. the noise stops when im turning left, and is present at any speed with any tyre pressure in any conditions on any road surface.
the left front has worn much more than the front right, in the 7-8 months the tyres have been on, covering around 7000 miles the right seems to have a beefy amount of tred, whilst the left is pushing legality.
the car tracks straight, had the alignment checked and that's fine, there is also no play in the wheels so its not the bearings,

so im completely clueless as to what it is that is causing an irritating noise and giving me premature and unevern tyre wear! help?!!

please let me know if you have any ideas,
cheers
Tom

It sounds like a bearing problem, just because there is no play in the wheels does not mean it hasnt got a knackered one best to get the car jacked up & check the bearings by spinning the wheels.
