Hi All, right - I'm looking at one of these for the wife right now. 2-3 years old, maximum of 40000 miles, 08 reg onwards. Most of the cars I'm looking at are priced between £11.5k (Mondeo) & £13.5k (Exeo ST/S-Max). Am I unrealistic to think that I should be able to get the Mondeo for around £10k and an Exeo/S-Max for around £12k?

I'm a cash buyer, with the readies to buy outright - so I should be able to get a discount like this right?

Time are tuff, ask, they can only say no! As for cash buyer, why would the dealer give a st? They make more out of finance deals.

True I guess, the days of cash being king are long gone.

You'll get good deals on petrol I had a brand new unregistered Mondeo Edge 2.0 for £14k from the local Ford dealer in 2009. Aparrently everyone wants a low C02/VEL diesel. Just watch the VEL costs and factor it in.

Indeed. Whenever I've bought a car from a main dealer one of the first things I'm asked is "Will you be needing finance?". I can only assume it's not because they want to be really helpful, but that they make more profit!
