Mondy shudder

My 54 Mondeo estate 130TDci has developed a front end shudder between 50 and 70 under load. Not there on a light throttle setting.

Tracking is out and has screwed two front tyres, which I've just replaced. New tyres and balanced a few days ago and the shudder is still there.

Tracking due in a couple of days.

335,000 miles on the clock.

Any ideas what's causing this..?

Front lower suspension arm bushes? It was certainly a weak point on the earlier models. The cure is a new set of suspension arms, which cost naff all and are quick to fit.

I'm getting rid soon, though, and the old girl's value is probably negative by now, so repairs are not welcome at the moment ...

Shudder or vibration?

Mine was giving a vibration under load which got worse the further I drove. Turned out ot be the driveshaft bearing. £80 to replace, drives smooth as silk now.

MoT man, he say front suspension is OK, trackrod ends are OK, driveshafts are ok..

MoT man does four wheel alignment...

Shudder is still present, although not as severe...

Any more ideas, chaps...?

Dual mass flywheel starting to give up and vibrate at a resonant frequency? My money would still be on the lower suspension arm bushes which only start to deform under load at speed. Try asking here http://www.talkford.com/forum/596-ford-mondeo/

Clutch has been replaced once. These symptoms not present at that time.

Arm bushes..it's just gone through the MoT shake and bump test, showing nowt wrong. Do you reckon your suggestion would have shown up there?
