Hi folks,

Should be a simple question. What are the best brake pads that are available for the ST220? For fast road use, that is.

No, I'm not interested in the Focus ST conversion for now smile

Cheers!

Personally I'd still with OEM after some bad experiences with various makes. Do you really need them? The brake pedal feel on the Mk3 is awful but they do stop if you slam them on just fine!!! (EBD was teh route cause I think).

I know, I've got nothing against the standard brakes unlike most people, they're not stupidly overassisted like most modern stuff. I was just wondering what's best for when I come to replace them. I like to have the best tyres, wipers, light bulbs etc, and just wondered that's all smile

I do find that mine are very dusty though. I presume it's got OEM pads. My wheels are filthy after about a week of normal use. My MX5 has EBC Yellowstuff pads and it takes a fair few miles' worth of hooning before the white wheels are noticeably dirty, and it has rip-your-face-off braking force hehe

From what I've read on ST Drivers a combination of Brembo discs (just plain vented ones) and green stuff pads are the best combination.

Not tried myself, though.

There was a pair of red stuff pads that sold on ebay for £10 a couple days ago. Theyre apparently for 200bhp and over so I didn't buy them.
Would of been a bargain I would of thought.
Have a look on www.stdrivers.co.uk and see who has what set up.

The revised EBC reds are fine. Greens are for lighter cars - not sure I'd want that.
