Was driving through Brum on M6 this aft and saw 3 lovely old school Cortinas in convoy (with black plates). 1 was a 2-tone rag top with a little lotus badge on the offside rear quarter. Would that be original? If so, what is it?

A company called Crayford converted various cars to "rag tops" in the 60`and 70`s the car you saw was probabily a Crayford Cortina Lotus, try a google search for some photos.smile

Don't tease. I think a modern Cortina would be great. Nice V6 under the bonnet and built like a brick st-house.

I'd like to see some RWD stuff from someone else besides the Germans and the Yanks but sadly...

Thanks! Interesting. I knew someone would know smile

It was, if not this one, then one very like it. Same colour scheme at any rate. The exhaust on the one I saw was much longer (or seemed it), and very chrome, possibly brand new. The exhaust caught my eye first, as I passed it, I spied the little lotus badge. According to the blurb along with the pic, it is now very rare!

Blurb says, "Lotus Cortina MkI Crayford

Crayford converted 52 MkI's of which 12 remained in England, 40 cars have been exported."
