Mk1 Ford Focus RS - Quicklear windscreen?
Discussion
I've been looking at these on the classifieds, (there's one local I'll be going for a look at), and have searched through specs etc and can't find if this model came with Quicklear/heated windscreen as standard or as an option.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not basing my purchase decision on this, it's just one of my friends had a boggo Mk1 Focus a while back and he had quicklear as part of a winter pack or something, I just think it'd be a nice feature to have.
Anyone know?

The quickclear windscreens really are a great feature. Bloody expensive for the glass though.
They're also very popular; fast-moving stock / large quantity of stock means they're not as expensive as you may be thinking. The newer Ford models will be, especially of the glass is solar reflective and has rain sensor hardware on it. Glassman said:

It was quite new at the time and the focus mk2 had not been out that long but I saw the bill that the insurance company would have to foot and it was over £600.
It's no secret that one very large and well known replacement company's retail pricing is in keeping with its size.
There is also another fairly well known nationally operated replacement company whose pricing is in keeping with its ambition.
The difference between the two is about the distance between the north and south pole; so there's plenty to choose from and competition for business is fierce.

My bog standard CL comes with heated screen. I've just noticed 2 massive chips in the windscreen, so it looks like an expensive replacement coming up. I do have windscreen excess on my insurance but I'm loathed to lose my no claims as i'll pay more in the long run!!
Glass replacement does not effect your no claims bonus.

That is very interesting to know, I thought it did? do you have to pay increased premiums on renewal?. The windscreen only half clears, so I'm assuming the large chip has damaged the heating element, if my renewal is not affected, new windscreen here I come!!
Well glassman is the first to tell me otherwise.
The 2 insurance companies that I have had to get glass through have both told me it does not effect ncb. So best bet is ask your insurer.

It's a bit sketchy tbh - I'm going by what various policyholders have said (and in some cases shown) about windscreen claims. The 2 insurance companies that I have had to get glass through have both told me it does not effect ncb. So best bet is ask your insurer.
No real rhyme or reason either: one guy made half a dozen claims on the same vehicle (kept getting broken into) and it made no difference to his premium come renewal time. On the other hand, guy made one windscreen claim and his premium shot up by 50-odd quid on the count that he'd made that claim (it was shown on the breakdown).
You'd think a vandalised vehicle would be deemed more of a risk over a routine cracked windscreen (esp if it was five or six times within a fixed period).
