Focus MK1.5 Issue - Cutting Out

2002 Focus (Mk1.5). About 88k on the clock. It passed it's MOT no problems (back in March I think), and has never really had any issues.

However this week it's started cutting out while driving. Not a stall kind of cutting out, where you feel it bogging down and then going. But an instant cut. Went out on a 5 mile round trip just now, and it cut out 5 times! It's normally while driving (30mph in 3rd gear usually). Usually it'll happen when starting to slow the car down. But sometimes it just happens when it feels like it.

Any ideas? Common or known problems? Symptoms sound familiar?

have you noticed if the spedo goes to zero , could be gear box speed sensor
