2 year old Fiesta with seized pads - chargeable work?
Discussion
Wife's car in for repair because of a squealing noise. Turns out the brake pads have seized in the caliper one side. The dealer wants to charge us for the repair because pads are consumables. I have pointed out that they have not worn out they have become jammed therefore it is a warranty job.
The car has done 22k miles.
Thoughts please chaps.

I'm sometimes getting a loud squealing noise driving at low speeds in my 59 plate fiesta. I wonder if it's the same thing. The car has done 22k miles.

MaybeIf their diagnosis is correct it's the pads binding and getting hot. So it will only happen when car has been driven for a while.
Aparently there seems to be little evidence of lubricant on the fitted pads when the car comes from the factory, but the dealers apply it to replaceement pads.
Get used to it, they'll jam up at least twice a year, even if they're copper-slipped.
I can strip, clean and rebuild the front calipers on my Mondeo in 30 mins now, I've done it so often. They rust up because I don't do big miles, and the car is sometimes not used for a week, so the discs rust up.
