Still contemplating options for a winter shed and wondering now about a Puma. A lot seem to have rust issues these days, but I can cope with a spot of cosmetic bubbling; I just wondered at what point it becomes a serious (MOT threatening) issue?

My g/f used to have a Puma and it was a fantastic little car, it had rust on the rear arches as is the most common area - you can buy replacement arch sections to be welded in through the Puma forums (think about £80) one area to check also is where the front wing meets the sill at the leading edge of the door (it is right where mudflaps attach if it has them and it can rot through. The sills themselves seemed to be quite robust its the outer panels which tend to suffer which probably wouldn't be an mot issue is superficial.

My old one went to my father who had to have significant welding done.

But then it's an R-reg car.

Mk1 Focuses etc. are faring no better.

No longer an issue I'm afraid. Was considering one as a purchase, but since picked up something old and German (and also prone to rusting round the arches!)
