I've decided to change the front discs and pads myself on my 2003 Focus Zetec 1.6. Is it worth buying the original Ford/Motorcraft parts, or are non OE parts just as good? Found this Mintex kit on ebay for half the price of the Ford bits.

Not a bad price that! You'll might actually find they are better than the ford ones.

I had mintex pads to start with on my focus, put the ford ones on when it came to change them and they were pants.

But they were the ST170 ones.

I've decided to give them a go. There are even cheaper kits on ebay but I thought it's probably best to go with a reputable brand.

There is a Ford part number for economy brake pads (Front 1359884 rear 1425407) and standard (Front 4346371 Rear 1125407). Worth checking which ones you fitted?
