What is the process required to remove the driveshafts from the Ford Getrag Transmissions Gearboxes from the 1.6 K-Series Rover 45s?

I tried using my large cold chisel which works perfectly with PG1 Gearbox Driveshafts but, no way could I budge them using the same process with this gearbox. I did not go too heavy handed. I had to remove the Engine~Gearbox assembly with the two driveshafts still attached ~ having partially disjointed the two inner CV-Joints on the shafts so that the shafts could hang straight down.

I guess once I've seperated the box from the engine it should be easier but, before tackling their removal again, any how to pointers will be appreciated. The car has only done th 53,000 and most parts are still like new...I intend to keep both driveshafts complete ~ they like most useful parts will always come in handy ... one day ...;)

For the benefit of those faced with releasing these Driveshafts from the Getrag FORD gearboxes fitted to some Rovers usually 1.6s, both shafts came out immediately and easily with little force required once I had daylight to work in and with the assembly out of the car. Exactly the same method as with Driveshafts in Rover and MG PG1 Gearboxes.

Once the box was seperated from the engine, both it and the engine were easy to lift into our cars with the help of my two strong sons.

Driveshaft, gearbox and Engine look like new on this once well maintained car showing only 53,000 miles. Sadly a heavy rear end shunt made it beyond economical repair.
