New engine for my focus

Hi all, got a 1.6 focus which I think is on its last legs (engine knocking and blue smoke bellowing out the back). So I'm thinking of buying another engine and paying to get it fitted. Now I know the focus had two very different engine designs (1.8, 2.0 Zetec-e, and 1.4, 1.6 Zetec-s. The Zetec-e lumps seem to be cheaper, and tbh I know them to be bullet proof, will they just drop straight in despite the car starting life as a 1.6? How much do you reckon I'm looking at for the labour? Thanx

Whilst i'm no expert, I know that the 1.4 and 1.6 are different designs to the 1.8 and 2.0, in that the inlet and exhaust manifolds are the opposite way round, so it wouldn't be as simple as just dropping an identical engine in.
Also, the 2.0 runs a different gearbox to the rest of the range (MTX75 rather than IB5).
