wet windscreen inside focus on frosty days

Hello Folks,

My first post here so here goes.

On frosty mornings the inside of my 02 Focus windscreen is very wet. Having read other discussions about this I have checked footwell carpets and they appear to be dry. Other options include heater matrix but that seems ok to.

Now the car has had a new windscreen fitted so could that be the culprit? The carpets are dry even after heavy rain so does that suggest windscreen problem but why only on frosty mornings?

Should I go and see a dealer or just live with it throughout the frosty spell?

If anyone has any suggestions or could help it would be very much appreciated.

Damp is getting in somewhere, maybe the pollen filter is damp? Just not enough for the the footwell to get wet. Hows the airflow from the vents? Having a simler issue at the moment but with the rear screen!

The airflow is fine from what I can tell. Once the car is warmed up after five minutes the screen will clear ok with some wiping with a towel as well. Just a hassle that we don't need on dark winter mornings!!

I think I shall pop to the dealer tomorrow and see what they say - I have a feeling they will blame the windscreen fitters! If I find any useful information I will let you know ok.

if the car has AC check the drain pipe that comes out underneath the car is clear.

If it gets blocked or kinked all the condensation on your evaporator will just be sloshing around in your heater box.

Carpets can feel dry but be soaked under, have you had them up to check? Most leaks on Fords are from door seals, light clusters or bulk head seams.

Apologies for my late reply but I did contact Firstglass in Poole - very helpful people and they said we can inspect the car no problem but they suggested checking the pollen filter first.

That is where I am currently so over the weekend I shall try to investigate further and will let you know what I find.

Thankyou for suggesting Firstglass - they were very nice and very helpful. Quite rare in customer service these days I think.

Pollen filter/seal is quite well known on the mk1 focus, easy and cheap to change mate, that would be my first call, is the pas footwell damp?

I had a similar problem on my old 04 Focus and the pollen filter seal was knackered, had this fixed and nothing changed.... Eventually turned out to be the rear screen, jet washes have a lot to answer for! Resealed and problem solved.
