My Car's Software
Discussion
Hi guys and gals. I have recently added the auto dimming mirror with the light and moisture sensor for the auto wipers and auto headlamps along with the correct windscreen for these along with the automatic light switch. The complete loom is there and all the cables are in the correct place.
I have been told that this is all that is required and when i went to the dealers to get it activated on the IDS i came to a complete stop!
Apparently according to the dealer, my ST3 has not got this option to be cheaked in the system and that i would need to have another version of the software.
I have been also told that i can copy the software from another car with the same setup, but how on earth can i do that... there are so many other cars and i wouldn't know. this could also create more problems for me as my setup may be different. Hectic!
Does anyone know of a way around this? All i want to do is enable the auto lights.

Find an ST3 of the same age with the exact same spec as yours. If theres anything that the other car has that yours doesnt, or visa versa this could cause issues. Then the dealer will either have to connect the IDS to the other car if available and obtain the GEM settings/configuration and then swap cars with the ids and reprogram the GEM in your car to the others settings/configuration.
Alternativley they could obtain GEM ASBUILT (factory settings) data for the GEM of the appropriate car by inputting the reg/VIN into Ford etis.
Newer Fords use CCC (Central Car Configuration) and this gives you the choice to change alot of settings and features but not all and is alot easier to "trick".
