Battery disconnection

Just moved from Vx to Ford with a 2011 Focus, so I'm just finding my way around - only just found the location of the OBD11 socket!

Anyway, I take it that should it be necessary to disconnect the battery a procedure is required. The Vx method was within 30 seconds after switching off the ignition to prevent the 'sounder' sounding. Does anyone know if it's the same or similar with my Focus?

Any advice would be most helpful.

...as I found out - though with an older model. Hope you've got the radio code somewhere! On reconnection it takes about five miles for the ecm to sort itself out.

For 'battery out' jobs, e.g. n/s headlamp bulb replacement, I connect my jump-start pack to an always-on ciggy lighter socket to maintain the radio and ecm supply.

Yes, that was another aspect. The 'handbook' doesn't appear to identify a code that one can enter manually - unlike my previous Vauxhall. And as far as I can tell it's tied to the VIN number and is reacquired automatically upon reconnecting the battery. Doubtless when the the occasion occurs whereby the battery needs disconnecting, I'll find out!!!
