Anyone know how to get into the boot of a focus without the key?

A mate of mine has just left his keys in the boot of his mk1 focus and shut the boot. The car was locked but the boot is only on the latch, so not fully closed. Does anyone have any non destructive methods of getting into the car or boot?

If he's in the RAC or AA they will be able to get in one way or the other ? Locked my keys in my ST220 saloon boot and ended up having to smash the rear light out and fish for the keys !

I did this with my Mk2 Focus. The ADAC man had no clue how to get in (there's a method of doing so using the front foglight..) so in the end I put the passenger window through...

AA or RAC can get you in without any damage though, assuming the process is the same or similar to the Mk2.

Thanks guys. So far we have managed to pull the door slightly open at the top, feed some welding rod down and res the boot release button but unfortunately it won't let us in (presumably because the car is locked).

He is with a breakdown company but can't remember which one and the details are in his car!

Any ideas on the cost of getting a window replaced and which one to smash in?

Call RAC / AA and see which one has his details.

We are in the process of doing this too, so far all the numbers we have tried have been sales lines. so i have shoved the ape off the computer and am trying it myself to get a number.

Assume he has one key only? Another method is to try other ford keys, many work on other cars for the doors on early fords.

yeah only 1 key unfortunately. We have asked around for ogther people we know with fords but non are any where near us at the moment. Rac are trying to get in contact with a locksmiths for us.

How so? Mine ('04) is either locked or not. There is no halfway as there is with the door latches. Car should have come with a plipper key and a non-plipper but I expect that got lost over the years.

If you've already gone to the trouble of pulling the door apart a bit at the top, try feeding other materials down the gap to try and loop around the interior door handle. As Fords open the locks on a pull of the handle, it saves you having to press/pull two items.

A guy at work had an oldish Fiesta and locked his keys in. Used some stout strapping like you get off a pallet full of stuff for transport. Made a loop in one bit, passed another bit through it, and you could "steer" the end loop to where we wanted it with patience and perseverence. Got in after an hour or so of messing about with no more damage than the pulling the top of the door open a little to feed in the straps.

He only has a single key and it doesn't have any buttons on it. It's a 2000MY and when he shut the boot it was just sat on the catch, just like when you don't shut a door hard enough and it has a slight gap around the edges.

It's a doddle to get into however not being awkward but i can't exactly post it on a public forum for obvious reasons.

Semtex, stuff as much as you can round the lock, ensure no children are in the car, add a detonation cord. Run. Light the cord

Did it work? if so can you let me know how it's done as I done something similar with my Focus. Thankfully I was outside the house and had the spare key.

You'd get sirens and blue lights and everything...
