Focus 1.8 to 2.0
Discussion
So im going to be putting a 2.0 Zetec into my 1.8 Focus soon.
I found out that all the ancillaries can stay including the ECU, as long as you keep 1.8 injectors.
Does anyone know if the 2l has a bigger throttle body than the 1.8?
And I will be keeping the 1.8 Gearbox(IB5) so what will i need to do with regards to clutch and flywheel.
Cheers

Seems like a lot of effort just for an extra 15bhp.
Indeed, unless the 1.8 engine is f
ked I wouldn't bother. The faff on with your insurers, the DVLA and actually fitting the engine will be more hassle than the engine change is worth. In reality, the 2.0L lump is still very thirsty and underpowered and the 2.0L Zetec Focii are hardly quicker than the 1.6 and 1.8's.Rsohyes said:
going for some big power later in life
the car has already had alot spent in other areas
So why use a Zetec 2L engine as the starting point, when there are better suited engines you could use?

I'm bracing myself for impact of chavtastic Mk.1 photo's, I think everyone else should do the same :P
Was gonna say a Duratec RS, but after a bit research because I was thinking, there's not much difference after the turbo tbh I thought it was drastically different, but obviously not, ah well you learn something new every day. If it was me I'd be tempted to go back and bung a Cosworth YB in though

YB is a LOT of work if you want it to be right, too much work i'd say.
2.0 zetec as he says is probably the cheapest and easiest way to go,some of them make silly power.
RS engine is another option but probably a bit pricey.
The next option is to just buy an ST or mk1 RS,probably spend as much on the old thing as he would on actually buying a half decent ST.

Dont worry, not chav tastic.
Keeping it as standard looking as possible.
Its Imperial blue which is the best colour for any Ford
Ive spent alot in fully rebuilding the car, polybushing, coilovers, big brakes etc
Owned the car for 3 years, and now ive got everything else sorted its time for POWER! haha
Starting with a 2L Zetec because, as said, its the basis of the FRS engine.
Id rather build a Zetec turbo myself than buy an FRS engine, As its good experience
I know it would be easier to just buy an FRS, but where's the fun in that
Once its complete i'll probably start a build thread with plenty pictures.
