Engine temperature
Discussion
Hi all looking for some advice.
Coming home from town earlier today (40mile round trip) I pulled over to call my friend and noticed my engine temp was in the red, never is normally and sits around 90 deg c but it was all the way up to 120 / 140 I cant remember what it goes to but it was as hot as it could read on the dial.
I opened the bonnet the coolant was all there no leaks plenty in it, the coolant was steaming a little when I opened the cap. Checked the oil no appearance of milkyness so guessing not head gasket.
What's could cause this issue? I did notice the rad fan wasn't even spinning when the temp was up. Web I drove it home after letting it cool I realised the quicker I go the cooler the temp where as if I'm standing still the temp rises and rises. Could this be the water pump?
And how much to fix being the key question as I'm already dishing out 700 of my fine British pounds to fix my front wing / bumper.
Edit: I have a 2006 (mk2) ford focus 1.8tdci
Cheers
Mike
