Just after a bit of advice on what may be causing the bearing to go so often.

have recently changed the bearing on the rear of my mk1 focus and had its MOT today and its come back as Failure on the N/S/R bearing, the one I changed. I have been changing this about every 6-8months it seems. but within the last month I changed it as I know MOT was due and there was play in that side.

any advice on what could be causing the bearing to go. I thought it may have been cheap ones before so changed the type I bought but to no joy.
I'm thinking possibly the rear drum it sits in could be knackered or possibly the hub is sits on?? I'd rather get whatever is making it go changed to save in the long run.

any advice would be great cheers

Try buying a genuine Ford part! I too was changing bearings more than once a year, I put it down to cheap parts! Strangely though my current Focus is on 120K and never had any bearing issues!

Recall purchasing drop arm bearings some years ago from a local spares dealer; they lasted about 18 months!! What we used to refer to as metal made from camel's manure and bus tickets.

What's the new ones like? I've just purchased a new Focus 1.6 (October 2011). My previous vehicle was a Vauxhall so I'm new to Fords.
