Ive just bought a Focus ST-3, it currently has a Sony Stereo system in the car (HUGE!) I was wondering if there are any other systems I can put in its place that would give me Sat Nav, phone and i-pod connection.

Cheers

What is wrong with using the connection point in the glovebox.

Yep, there are several 'double-DIN' options out there. All you need is a replacement fascia for the slot. Check out www.focusstoc.com for ST-specific help, there's loads of info on there.

Funnily enough, I've just started to investigate updating my Sony system, also in an ST-3. Think I've narrowed it down to Pioneer AVIC F930bt. Does everything I'm going to need it to do, and has USB ports, micro sd card slot, etc etc. Think it's a fairly new machine as very few reviews out there but I always give them all a good look on youtube as dealers are pretty quick at putting videos up of their new releases.

Bags.

I put an Alpine system, double din with parrot system on mine. Sony system is not the greatest in comparison and you have control on the ipod from the head unit not fumbling in the glove box while driving !!.I mounted my ipod onto the glovebox door with velcro, so it doesnt crash around in there and is hidden from eyes when parked up.

Is it a standard fit on the ST3? We were looking in my friends 07 plate one at the weekend and couldn't see anything.

I had this system in my Old ST and it worked well.

You will need..
Facia Adaptor + double din cage
Stalk adaptor for steering wheel controls
Ford Quad to ISO wiring adaptor
removal keys for the OEM Sony unit.

Here's a pic

It's the White bit with a hole in just to the left of the catch, just plug a 3.5 jack lead in there and into the headphone socket of iPod and select aux on headunit.

You still have to use the iPod controls to select tracks and so on though! thumbup

My wife has the older Pioneer AVIC-F920BT and it's not bad. The touch screen isn't exactly iPhone good but it usually does what you wanted. SatNav im yet to fully work out but that's my fault for not reading the manual! It isn't as good as my TomTom for being intuitive though. The disapointing thing was the phone connection is still via Bluetooth and for some reason whenever you call the car you get talked over by yourself!

Haven't long fitted a jvc double din in my st. Love the sound on it. The only reason I went for this over a pioneer is because it has a detachable face.

Dreadful sound quality and no control over, or charging of your device smile

Thanks for the info on that, stupidly under the impression it was out with the old, in with the new, connect a few wires and off I go. Never quite that simple is it? I'm guessing as far as things like cage, adaptor, wires etc, a decent car hi-fi centre would know what is required? I'm not sure I fancy giving this a go myself.
