I have a 2005 Mondeo TDCI 130 that has covered 73K miles. I’m currently trying to decide whether or not to keep the car for another 18-20 months or bite the bullet and get something else. I’ve had the car for 6 years and covered around 68k miles and it has been a great car. So looking into the future and the next 20-25k miles what is likely to need replacing apart from the usual tyres, pads, maybe disks, wiper blades, etc?

I’m assuming the clutch and DMF will need replacement? What will this cost?

What about the injectors or fuel pump? Not sure on the cost of these?

Any other expensive things that could go wrong?

Am I correct in thinking that the mondeo doesn't have a DPF?

Part of me wants a new car just for a change but the Mondeo continues to drive well and is worth so little now I’m tempted to keep it going.

Thanks in advance.

I had the DMF on mine done late last year, can't remember the total bill but it was over £800.

Pumps and injectors are another expensive failure but there's no saying that they'll give up anyway.

I'll be keeping mine now until it falls apart i think

I have a 2006 155ps on almost 170,000 miles.

I had the DMF and clutch replaced at around 160,000 for £650

Almost straight after that my turbo actuator failed. Managed to get the motor replaced for around £250 (much better than the new turbo I was quoted at £1100!)

Coil spring and shock at the same time as well - unlucky

Basically, worry free then I got a triple whammy of bills within the same month just after 160,000.

However, I must have had 3 or 4 EGR valves in that time. Last one I got from Jaguar (x type) for £120 and fitted it myself. If you are lucky and yours is a Euro 3 engine rather than my Euro 4 you can blank off the valve with a £2 ebay plate. I could on mine but it would leave the engine management light lit. If there is no electrical connector on the valve, it's Euro 3.

Injectors have been fine and you wont have a DPF.

I'd have another.
