Ford Cougar wiper issue

Hi all,

My wife's Cougar is having wiper issues. They work fine when turned on, but any intermittent operation such as when spraying the screen, one touch down for a quick wipe, or intermittent mode, don't work at all.
As far as I can tell this part of the system is identical to the mk2 Mondeo.

Is this likely to be the stalk unit?

I've checked the fuses but not the relays yet, but pretty sure on the diagram the relay for the wipers did the full wiper system so if they worked at all then it wouldn't be that.


£20 for a new used stalk seemed pretty good value but just wondered if anyone had any other thoughts before I buy one.
