Hi guys, is there a howto anywhere on changing the oil on a mk1 focus?

I have a 2.0 petrol variant and would really like a pictoral guide.

Failing that, do I have to remove any arch liners etc or is it a simple case of jacking the car up and sliding under it.

Any tips appreciated!

Straight forward enough job no trays require removal just a sump plug (13mm) & the oil filter which is on the rear drivers side of the engine above the driveshaft

Thanks for the tips Neil.

Did it last night, all went well.

The only thing I found was a bit tricky was getting to the oil filter, as it's mounted on the 'back' of the engine.

I know there are tonnes of different tools available for removing them, can anyone suggest the best one for this particular scenario?

I've always used one of those chain filter grips, they've never failed me yet.

In a pinch, you can hammer a long screwdriver through the oil filter, and then use that to turn them.
Use your spare screwdriver, and prepare to get messy, oil will get everywhere!

Never had to use tools to remove the filter on either of mine. Tighten them by hand, undo them by hand.
