I'm guessing these two problems must be connected - the blower only works on the #4 setting, nothing on 1,2 and 3. The aircon however only seems to work on 1,2 and 3, doesn't work at all on 4 (light goes off on aircon switch). Bit of a pain on hot days!

After a bit of research it sounds like a thermal fuse has blown which explains the blower problem, but has this got anything to do with the aircon? If not, what could it be? Both issues occured at exactly the same time. Thanks in advance smile

Try changing the thermal fuse thingy and see if it rectifies the other problem.

The blower resistor pack has caused the blower not to work on 1, 2 or 3. The aircon isn't active on 4.

Strangely mine has gone for the 2nd time this year. Only £18 from Ford and you can fit it yourself (although small hands and a long screwdriver are useful).

Finally got around to doing something about this! Resistor pack is out, are there any visual clues to tell me it's blown? Looks ok to me, but i don't really know what i'm looking for!

Just got round to changing mine this weekend. No, a blown one looks exactly the same, there's no way to tell a blown one from a good one until you plug it in.

Thanks, here's hoping that's the problem! Where did you get your replacement from? I've searched the internet and can't find one anywhere.

Ford main dealer? At £18 it is probably a bit pricey but not really worth messing around with Chinese sourced bits on Ebay with no warranty.

Yes, Ford main dealer. They've usually got a few in stock so you can probably pop straight in.

Using a multimeter,its a simple component to test,its basically 3 different resistors.

Thanks guys, job done! £19 from the Ford dealer and fitted it at the weekend. Works fine, just have a couple of skinned knuckles from trying to screw the damn thing in!

Yes the edges of the glovebox opening are quite abrasive. And if you're anything like me, you probably dropped the screw and it fell behind the carpet!
