Hi Guys,

I need my car valued for insurance reasons. I have asked around the RSOC but its looking like a 300 mile round trip which in fuel alone would be £80. Does anyone know someone local who will value the car and be accepted by the insurance company (Need2Insure)

Car is a Escort RS Cosworth and would prefer someone who knew the Ford scene as to some this is just a chaved up Escort but to people in the know, its a hand built rally rep which is rising in value smile

I am in Yeovil

Thanks

Mark

In the trade the car is worth between £3800 and £4500, retail is £5595.

Blimey - it's no wonder that so many people with these cars end up having a massive arguement with their insurers in the event of a payout if that's the book price they work on for an Escort Cosworth cry

Retail price of £5595,is that what you would have in the window if you were to sell it on the forecourt?

Pay no attention to the book price! Depending on condition, Escos's are still fetching between 12-16k, so insure it on agreed value for at least that!

This is true, but unless you have the car valued they will only pay out book price which as you can see is rubbish. Anyone reading this who does not have agreed value, please do so before it is too late

When I insure mine, I'm asked to provide pics of all round the car, inside and engine bay, along with a full spec of the car, and as long as they are happy with the price I value the car at, the agreed value is set, and noted on the policy. Job done! smile Never had an RSOC valuation.

Yeah lookin into that now. I just dont want to get shafted. Its all insurance companies so not picking on mine, its a hard car to value etc but just a little upset that you can insure a car and they think its worth half of what it really is.
