Hi all,

I'm looking at buying a Mk4 2007 (57) Mondeo Estate 2.5T Titanium X. I'm after a bit of info so any answers would be great.

1) I am used to the 5 pot Volvo lump having owned a Focus ST but can anyone confirm that it is has a cambelt in the Mondeo? The reason I ask this is because the chap I'm looking to buy off thinks it is chain driven based on info given to him from a Ford main dealer.

2) Is the clutch/flywheel set-up the same as the Focus ST or are they beefier to deal with the extra weight of the Mondeo?

3) Remaps - I see bluefin do one for the Mondeo but are there any maps to avoid or ones that come recommended?

Also is there anything in particular I should check apart from the usual stuff when buying used?

Thanks in advance

Chris.

1. Belt.

3. Dreamscience (they don't advertise this service on their website but I know they can do it so it's worth asking).

No - it's definitely chain driven.

Thanks for the replies guys. The reason I ask is the car has covered 126k miles so I really wanted to know if it the belt (if it had one!) had been changed.

It's definately belt driven. I have one on my drive, and the wife has the same engine in her S40 T5.

It's due a change at 10 years or 125k miles according to Ford. But it is not a big job, in the Volvo it is a book time of 1.6 hours, and the Volvo engine bay is *much* smaller than the Mondeo.

It is a belt and requires a change at 125k, but should really be done at 80-100k.

As for Tuners, JW Racing have a mondeo T5 and a massive mods list to choose from.
