Hi All,

I have been looking into blanking the EGR valve on my 1.8 focus 58. I couldn't seem to find many people that had done it on the newer TDCI engines so i was unsure if the EML would illuminate ETC.

However i have installed the plate and done 100 ish miles and the ECU has not thrown out any lights.

I can feel a slight difference of the response of the throttle low down in the REV range and there is very little / no black smoke when it is floored.

So overall i can say it is worth doing as i have better throttle response no to mention faster pick up of the revs....

PS I also have the car re-mapped and a high flow air filter fitted, these additions make the car feel like a totally different car

Interesting. Did you buy the plate from somewhere or did you fabricate it yourself?

I have been thinking about doing something similar with my 2.0 TDCi

I did buy one from Ebay for £3 delivered as i didn't have the time to make one, however it didnt fit as i think it was for the 1.4 and 1.6 TDCI engine.

So i did have to make one..... Installation was easy all i had to do was loosen the bolts an slot the plate in.

I have seen a noticeable improvement in the low end revs, also accelerating from low down in the range is better.....

I would recommend doing it....

Also though you might like to know the engine management system has not warned me so all good there.....
