On Saturday the wife's 2004, 1.8 Petrol C-Max wouldn't lock or unlock with the remote but was fine with the key in the door, she was only getting something out of the car so didn't try and start it. Fast forward to this morning and the remote works fine but the car won't even turn over, I've checked the battery and it's reading 12.3 volts, I thought this was a little low so tried to jump start it with the Disco and it was just the same, has anyone got any ideas.

Many years ago I had a similar problem with a 1.4 Escort which turned out to be the crank position sensor, however the fact that I had the issue with the fob leads me to think its an immobiliser fault.

Any ideas are are greatly appreciated.

Still sounds like the battery. Maybe it didnt make a good contact on the jump leads. can you take the battery off and charge it up and try again?

Tomorrows plan is to swap the battery for a known good one, if it's still no better I'm going to swap the crank position sensor as it's a nice cheap thing to try. I've spoke to a few people today who seem to agree on the immobiliser.

Feel free to throw money at it randomly changing this that and the other but how's about getting someone who knows what they are doing to look at it? You never know they might actualy tell you what is wrong with it.

At what point did i say i was going to throw money at it? My dad has a 08 plate 1.8 Focus with the same engine so i'm simply going to swap the sensor with his and see how it is then.
