Computer Regen process not working on 2008 Mondeo 140bhp

Just wondering if anyone has come across a Mondeo DPF error on a 2008 2.0TDCI 140 BHP model?
Car has 94k miles and I am looking at getting the DPF taken out and the engine re-mapped……….
Just wondering if anyone has come across this or has any recommendations?
A replacement part is around €1k from main dealer.
