Mondeo bumping noise on full lock?
Discussion
Hi can anyone help? My 05 Mondeo 2.0l TDCI has suddenly started to make a bumping noise - rather like a stick - slip sound - on full lock particularly on uneven surfaces. I have looked at the front wheels and arches and can see no signs of rubbing. Any advice would be much appreciated. Could it be related to the current freezing temperatures?
Check for broken front springs - have had a number go on various cars. Not always obvious as the spring can semi-reseat. On my 07 Fiesta the spring swivelled and lathed off the tyre tread.
The sound you describe is the sound it makes as the spring can now rotate.

Thanks for that. I have checked the springs and they appear to be ok but the rubber gasket at the bottom of the drivers side spring is displaced and sticking out about 2". I have sprayed wd40 onto it and the noise has stopped. Any further advice on what to do would be appreciated. The spring and damper action on both sides appears to be OK.
