Hello again all, in need of some advice with a spot of electrical bother.

The car is as follows:

2002 Ford Mondeo 1800cc Petrol - LX spec, q/c screen @ front, AC, e/w all around and stalk controls. That's all the toys IIRC.

5 door hatch.

The Story

A month ago (ish) it started having the odd issue with the boot not opening from the outside, with the boot button. No drama, I'll get to it. Then it started automatically opening the boot of its own accord every time you started the car.

Then, the OSF side light bulb appeared to be gone......... As well as all 3 of the O-Ring bulbs on the rear.

Some checking revealed that the 7.5a fuse had blown. Changed it. An hour later gone again.

FFWD to this week, 3 hours Thursday evening in a mates workshop, and 3 hours yesterday on the driveway, yields no joy. So stick another 7.5a fuse in, leave it going, used the car last night.

POP!

Now it's 10.00pm on a Saturday night and I've got bugger all. The following no longer work:

- either of the rear O-Rings on the back
- either of the front side lights
- either of the rear number plate lights
- the dash/clocks lighting - barring the digital bit
- the centre console back lighting

scratchchin"bd fuses have gone"

nono Had every fuse in the under-dash box, and every fuse in the bonnet box out..... All good.

I'm stumped. It'a trusty work-horse, but auto electricians ain't cheap.

2x mechanic mates are stumped as it's beyond their remit without having testing rigs/wiring diagrams.

Before I a) scrap it, or b) cough up £50p/h+ for an auto-sparky to try and find the issues, does anyone have similar experience or any idea of what I'm missing?

Thanks in advance, and sorry for the lengthy explanation

Sorry forgot I'd started this thread. I gave up with mine & took it to a local auto-electrician who fixed it for 3hours labour.

Turns out the tow-bar loom was less than professionally installed by some previous owner it turns out, and the cable ties holding it to the chassis had given up. So the wiring had fallen on to the exhaust, melted in various places and caused all sorts of issues.
