Mk6 fiesta diesel MPG figures
Discussion
Hi,
Does anyone own a 1.4 or 1.6 TDCi mk 6 Fiesta and can tell me what sort of MPG figures you are realistically achieving? I'm just weighing up how much more it is worth paying for a diesel rather than e.g. A 1.25 petrol engine.
I currently have a 1.25 mk5 which I use for commuting but this will need replacing soon and as I do 25k per year a diesel will prob be better for me.
Thanks
Also: If anyone has any tips of things to lOok out for when buying, typical things that go wrong etc. that would be appreciated!

Ive got both 1.4 & 1.6, mpg wise there is not alot in it.
We regularly see 58 to 60 plus over each tank ffom the pair, mixed driving but not racing about etc.
Only advice I can give is get the 1.6 if your doin alot of motoway etc
Had the 1.4 for 3 yrs and done 35k in it and bar general services, its had a dodgy injector and an ABS sensor.
The 1.6 had for 2 yrs and that had nothing go wrong in just short of 25k.
Both diesels.
1.4 is an 08 & the 1.6 is a 59.

I have a 2007 1.6 TDCi Zetec S
Have done about 76,000 in the last 4 years. Always serviced by main dealer and only problems were boot release motor and thermostat housing, both fixed in the last 6 months.
I used it for motorway commuting until I changed jobs in October.
Never got less than 55mpg, which is currently for short journeys into town
Trundling up and down the M3 I could get 74mpg if I was really taking it easy, that's an average over the week not a one off.
Mostly it was high 60's.
I agree with motorway comment, when I was looking (to change from a 3.0 A4) I wanted something that could hold its own on the motorway.

I ran a 1.6 for 60,000 miles. Rarely saw less than 45 even when used heavily in town, 60-70 was possible on a very steady long run, overall average was probably 50ish over its lifetime with me.
Nothing major broke while I owned it but I'd check for oil leaks on the 1.6 and general high mileage ford stuff. I'd be wary of leggier ones with the potential for big bills, oh and if you value ride comfort at all avoid the Zetec S models,
