I nearly fell off my chair when OMC Ford told me what a 75,000 mile service and MOT would cost me on my S-Max (£450). And I wasn't even sitting down! I've had it with main stealers - I'm not even convinced they're all that capable. Can anyone recommend a decent Ford specialist locally?

Thanks in advance

Thanks. When I asked the dealer why it was so expensive, they told me they needed to replace the oil cooler, air filter and a load of other stuff. Stuff that certainly isn't mentioned in the major service list on Ford Etis. Utter rip-off merchants. I've a good mind to call trading standards tomorrow.

I used Halewood from 2007-2009 when I had my Ford Focus MK1. I think the mechanics name was Dave if I remember correctly. No issues whatsoever, had him do my services and MOT and a few other bits. Not used him since I changed my car to the ST as Profile Automotive were closer for me until they closed. Now using D&R Performance in Ashton for my servicing.

Thank goodness for that - my Puma is off there on Wednesday for wheel bearings. He was considerably cheaper than my local inde. I was worried about picking a garage off the net.

His name is Dave, I'll try and report back once I've had the work done.

Co-incidentally, I'm there on Wednesday too. I'll report back how it went. The S-Max is going in for a major service and MoT, £210

Had the service and MoT done yesterday, no problems. Dave is very friendly and knows his stuff. One thing that surprised me was that he had no PDQ machine, so it was cash or cheque payment only. I had to dash out and get money from a cash machine to pay him.

I'd take my car back there.

Same here, I was very happy with the service and the price. I'll definitely be going back.
