Focus ST back box paint

The back box on my focus st is looking a bit grubby. Is there a specialist paint required or can I get an off the shelf silver spray paint?
Has anyone done this?

I remember the back box on mine was the same, i used "Brasso" and it came up nicely.

I don't think it's supposed to be painted mate I might be wrong. I think you can polish them up.
