Hi Guys

I'm looking to buy a cheap Ford Focus as a run-around and I'm looking to spending no more than £2k. I found a great looking 2003 model on www.desperateseller.co.uk/cars-for-sale/ford/focus However, I have heard some horror stories regarding he 2003 model and the valve seat dropping into cylinder 2 destroying the complete engine. I know £2k isn't a lot of money to some people but I can't afford this to happen. Has anyone experienced this? Any help would be welcomed

Best regards

MkH

Don't know about valve seats in particular, but all the secondhand cars I purchased over the years were rubbish. None were more than 4 years old and had problems I'd say covered just about every mechanical aspect: engine, gearbox, suspension, brakes (one I wondered how on earth the brakes were working at all!). Leaving me with the thought: what on earth did the previous owner do to for it to end up like this?

And I'd guarantee that the clutch will be shot on your 2003 prospect. And if such, and you take it to a garage rather than do it yourself, the front wheel drive arrangements these days will make it expensive to change.

Blimey!

I think I'll give that a miss and have a serious rethink!

Thanks dilateous.
