Has my turbo blown on 06 Focus 1.8 TDCI
Discussion
Hi guys, looking for some advice, local garage is stumped so will need to go to Ford.
My car just suddenly stopped & the red light came on saying 'engine system fault'. The car drives but there is no power from the turbo. Otherwise the car seems ok, no smoke, noise, etc.
Only fault which came up on local diagnostics x 3 m/c's was glo plugs fault.
Any ideas before ford try to charge me £3000 for a new turbo & all other parts?
Thanks

Hi theshrew
Thank you for responding.
Last year the clip came off the rod between the turbo boost and the waste gate. Ford informed me then that if the clip came off again, we would need buy a complete turbo at £3k.
On monday, the car stopped when driving, the red light came on stating engine system fault. The car started back up but with no power. I assumed that it felt exactly the same as last year when the clip came off and don't know what this limp mode is.
Local garage have checked the clip - still intact, have put the car on 3 diagnostics but with no fault other than glo plugs. They don't know what is wrong and have only suggested that a flush at £60 is put through the turbo but they don't know if that is the fault. They advised that I take it to Ford.
Therefore, car away to Ford for them to check it out. Just hoping then that this limp mode is caused by another fault and the turbo hasn't gone.
Cheers
