Jumping out of 5th gear...any ideas?

Morning all,
We have a Ford Ranger (diesel) at work and the driver has complained that it keeps jumping out of 5th gear. If he holds it in, it's fine. No other problems or noises. The dealer wants 400 quid just to look at the problem (in Dubai, see)as they've said it's a load of work just to check.
Has anyone ever experienced the same, or have a clue what needs to be repaired?
