After 14 years my Mondy is looking like she is on her way out. Its been a great car, no real problems but alas the time has come to do something with her. Last year the MOT centre had to work some magic to get her through and I had to have the rear sills welded. Basically, she won't pass next month. I already have a new car lined up but I'm not sure what to do with her? Scrap her, break her or try ebay? I think I have developed some emotional attachment to the old girl frown.

126,000 miles, clutch going, rust on both wheel arches (likely MOT failure) - basically a wagon.

I paid £400 for a lovely one with a new MOT, several years back, off ebay and the Government scrappage scheme gave me £2k off a new car so it went. I imagine it's worth about £120 scrap but they are getting rare so maybe worth a punt on ebay but would it make £12)? I'm not sure it would.

What is it about mk2 Mondeos that means you get so attached?! I still miss the two I had. So much more character than any of the other cars I've had.

The last one I had a lot of fun with at the end of its life. Stripped it out and raced it a bit then put it all back together, smartenered it up and flogged it for £500 with a couple of months t&t. The diesel model has a large market and you should be able to sell it quite well, the petrol models if low mileage would be good for someone looking for a decent engine for a kit car or something. Wouldn't personally try breaking it as parts are dirt cheap already on eBay.
