C-max lighting issue

My wife has an '06 c-max, the instrument cluster, side lights & rear lights have all failed (the main beam works fine). We have chexked the fuses and even changed the light switch unit, as that's what a family friend (mechanic) suggested it was, all to no avail.

Has anyone else suffered from this, before I take it into the dealer ?

It sounds like a fault in the fuse box wiring itself to me. I think it will need someone to pop the fuse panel out and have a look, and probe around with a voltmeter. If you feel confident in doing it, it might be worthwhile getting a £10 multimeter, setting it to DC volts and checking whether there is 12V at the fuses and at the lamps. If there is, then the problem will be a faulty earth.
