2013 Fiesta recurring fault: Advice sought
Discussion
Hi
My dad has a 2 month old Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost that keeps getting a failing heater box and/or air distribution control cables.
The dial that you turn to direct air to the windscreen or feet stiffens up at the extreme left and right setting. This means he can't demist the screen properly.
So far the car has had 2 replacement sets of cables and 1 complete heater box and cable set(a £1000 job apparently). The car has made 5 visits to the dealer for this problem in 2 months. The latest visit today the mechanic, who is on first name terms with my dad, tried another set of cables and when he tested the dial it failed again within 2 minutes and is completely stumped as to why.
The car is now booked in for another complete heater box and cable set replacement early next month.
Does he have a case for rejecting the car? And what is the best way to go about it?

Have a look for Ford customer care on google. Give them a call and they will help you and your Dad get the problem resolved. My dad has a 2 month old Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost that keeps getting a failing heater box and/or air distribution control cables.

I had the active grill fail on my New ST only 6 weeks after taking delivery of it. Was told the part was on back order and could be a month wait... called them they found a dealer in Italy that had the part, they shipped it to Nottingham and was fixed in a few days.
Ford then offered my free servicing and breakdown cover for three years.
They are there to put pressure on your dealer, general discussion says 3 goes at fixing the same fault and you can start the process of rejection; but try calling Ford first.
Also your dealer might be the issue, do you have another dealer near by?

Thanks for that I'll let him know. There is another dealer locally but doubt they'll be any better (personal experience). I got some more details from my dad a while ago and apparently the cables are being twisted and/or bent, causing the problem. Sounds to me like something is catching the cables rather the cables being faulty? I have no idea why they changed the heater box too!?I had the active grill fail on my New ST only 6 weeks after taking delivery of it. He also told me the bonnet is now misaligned so badly the edge is touching the headlight on the drivers side, even though he thinks only the wipers/wiper motor and scuttle panel were removed.
I had an issue with the Sync on my 2013 Fiesta. Went back ten times. Customer Liaison wouldn't help. Ended up having to sell the car before I went absolutely mad. They wouldn't let me take it back, they wouldn't give me any form of compensation. Advised that I would have to fight the dealer in court if I wanted to reject it and I would lose as the "car" still worked.
Would never buy another new Ford again.

Sounds like a terrible dealer. Though selling the car over a Sync issue seems a bit extreme!Would never buy another new Ford again.
My dad sat down with the DP yesterday and he's agreed its unacceptable and asked him for one more chance of fixing it this coming week (instead of early November) and if they fail, a like for like replacement will be provided.
