Just bought a Transit Connect (2007) with a diesel 1.8 TDCI. It has a limiter set at 70MPH. Now I was thinking of keeping it as it'd save me fuel in the long run, but after a drive down the motorway on the way home, it's horrid. Put your foot down to nip into the outside lane, over take and then back in, but hitting the limited, the van feels like it goes limp and the 'nip out, nip in' aspect is gone as the limiter kicks in!

Is this a Ford dealership job only, or is there a cheaper (?) easier (?) way?

Would you like me to check my contacts. I have a few about, but would need to make a few phone calls in the morning.

Cheers

Hi Bearman, are you the man in the know? Anyone local whoc ould sort me out would be great. I'm based near Petersfield. The two local Ford garages have long since gone from around here over the last few years. I guess I'll have to go Portsmouth way.

Busterbulldog, did they do it for free as it was a mistake, or did it cost. If so, do you know how much?

I presume it works the same as on our vehicles. If so just take it to a dealer they will program the ecu to whatever speed you want or turn it off if required. Will only take a few mins to do so won't cost much
