Has any one else had this issue?
On random occasions usually when changing down a gear(EG 2nd to 1st), the revs drop very low to below 500 rpm, and on occasion it causes the car to stall. This happened a few times when we first got the car but my wife and I just put it down to us driving diesels for the last few years but it's happening more lately and starting to be a concern.
There doesn't seem to be a specific set of circumstances causing this and i've spoken to my dealer who says they have not seen the problem, but it seems to be cropping up a bit on some US websites.
Any advice?

Split crankcase breather hose? The one on my mk1 split and collapsed and caused exactly the symptoms that you have described.

Sub £10 part, 30 minutes of getting my hands dirty, et voila. Smooth idle and no more stalling.

There is an electrical connecter that causes it

Car coughed this morn and this time engine management light came on aswell.
Along with 'engine malfunction' warning on dash when I re-started.
It's with Ford now being investigated.
