I see ST200s are getting temptingly cheap. Interested to know how they match up to the ST220. The power to weight ratio favours the newer car, but not by that much because it is heavier. However the ST220 has more torque as I understand it. Are both terribly thirsty.

Big V6 is a fairly heavy car, yes they are a bit thirsty. But you don't buy one for economy. The ST220 is quicker and easier to drive, they are quite different cars in character though.

Both cars are amazing in my opinion. Both do around 28-30mpg. Recently went on a trip to yorkshire and my st200 got 35.4mpg!! Which i was quite happy with.
Apparently the st220 will do 1mpg more but you dont buy these cars to drive economical. Although i dont own a 220 (yet) i cant tell what its like to live with. But my 200 has been fine, only niggle i have is the imrc plays up when the cars has been on a 'fun' drive(220's dont have it). If you can find a cheap 220 buy it. Although dont think "i havent got enough money for a 220, ill have to settle with a 200". Its a fantastic car. Hope it doesnt confuse you. It sounded good in my head.

Have driven both cars and I have a ST200 as a daily driver, The 220 obvioulsy being newer feels more refined to drive. As for MPG mine does 28-32 depending on conditions. Yep the 200's are dropping in price rapidly so in my opinion are good value if you can find a lowish mileage one. On the 200 look out for rust which the 220's dont seem to suffer from as badly. The most important bit for both cars is ensuring the clutchs are renewed as they only last around 60/70k miles and are expensive to replace as it means dropping the subframe and having the tracking done after also. Hope this helps.....

Great, so would a nice one for £1995 with 107,000 mile be too much? Its down in Southampton (on autotrader). Personally I think the St200 is a handier size than the ST220s which don't seem to come up for less than 3 grand.

That seems a bit pricey for the mileage its got. Should be looking at a about £1,000

Owned both.

The 200 feels a little more special for some reason. A bit more raw, but it's an older car. Probably hard to find a decent one now.

The 220 is more refined, a nicer place to be (especially facelift cars) and is noticely quicker.

I thought that but, a) its a dealer and its in the south, we southerners get ripped off for houses AND cars! b) they're factoring the number plate would you believe it, "W20 0ST" - I think!

I've driven both and they're both good fun with the 220 being the better place to sit. I was happy with both though smile
