Cross posting here for advice from http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Basicly I'm hoping someone here will know if I need to change the head bolts or not when doing a head gasket. The head has been off before, but the idiot we paid to do it screwed it up. I'll need a head gasket, exhaust manifold gasket & the gasket for the plastic water connector on the end of the head (the last two were missing when I stripped it down!) I also need two new valves, so probably shim buckets. Any suggestions for a cheap supplier for all these bits?

I've got the locking tools, well I've ordered them off ebay today so I'll have them soon.

Oh finally, I take it as the seats for all the other valves look fine I don't want to do anything daft like grind them. I wasn't planning on as I'd need to buy loads more buckets to get the clearances right.

We're going to sell the car soon as Mrs Hooli has lost trust in it, so I need it working ok rather than utterly perfect to keep forever.

Oh & here is why it was running like a sack of poo & had to come apart again...

Thanks. I saw that written in a few places, but others said not. I've always found service lengths for stretch bolts in the past which confused me too.
