Considering this as my next car (early planning and certainly won't be a new one), just wondered what owners think? Reviews seem great, but interested in the real world.

Currently have a panda 100hp which does 20k miles a year. Has been great, so replacement needs to be entertaining.

Or save pennies for the ST?

I own the current 1.0T 125bhp ZS.

It's got the same fantastic chassis as the ST and a nice interior, and I got up to Glasgow from Kent on £45 worth of Vpower Nitro. If your not doing mega miles it's worth splashing out the extra for the ST.

That being said, next year Ford are due to roll out a facelifted 1.0T ZS with 140bhp and a 6 speed box...

That's interesting! The facelift version could be the perfect compromise.

I'm hoping Mountune will turn their attention to the 1.0 Ecoboost soon..

Nothing definite and I can't find anything more recent, but if not it would be good in Mountune did something... I had a look at their website a few weeks ago and half expected there to already be a kit. Surprised that the existing Zetec S only comes with five gears, and i'd have to get used to non-climate control A/C.

Just to add... Superchips already sell a chip to increase this engine (in the Focus) to approx 140bhp. Looks a decent option.

On the face of it the lack of that extra gear seems like a right kick in the balls... But the ratios are extremely long, for example you can go from 25mph - 105mph in 3rd!

Climate Control A/C is an option, and if you go for that it works with the sync voice activation thingy.

I was tempted by the superchips remap, PumaSpeed offer a massive load of upgrades too, and there are videos of their tuned 1.0 giving STs a bit of a pasting..

I think I'd rather sit and wait for Mountune to pull their finger out and keep my warranty intact seeing as the car is under a year old!

Makes a lot of sense. I'll have to get out there and test one..

Had first test in a 125 version yesterday. Cracking car and will be perfect for what I need it for... Will look for one with the right options. Nearly new versions are good value as well.
