This is an odd one but i have tried to include as much detail as possible should anyone else have a very strange issue with not starting:

So I thought that I would share something that has happened to my Ford CMAX so that in future is anyone has the same experience again that it will be very easily fixed and help people avoid costly Ford labor charges to find a fault that actually doesn’t seem to exist.

3rd November 2013

Parked at the rear of the building at work after returning from lunch and went back to work, came out at 4pm and went to start the car.

All the lights come on at ignition but turn the key to the last stage to turn it over and nothing happened.

Called the dealer who told me the key could have lost its code. They were very helpful (Castle Motors Fleet) and they drove to my house, collected my wifes key and drove it out to me in Hook.

Tried a few things whilst talking to a ford tech no luck wouldn’t start.

Called breakdown who checked all the relays, battery, put a new feed from the battery to the starter, jump started it nothing would not turn over at all !

Towed it to the garage, pushed it into a parking space and I thought ‘I’ll give it one last try’ started up fine !

Drove the car until the next failure point without any issue at all !

5th December 2013

Parked in the exact same space as last time behind the building after again returning for lunch. Came out at 4pm got in turned the ignition on, all the lights come on but last turn of the key no luck doesn’t start.

Having read a post before where someone had a similar issue and it having started after leaving it for an hour I did just that, 5pm went out and tried again, no luck wouldn’t turn over.

Called the breakdown.

The guy arrives and I tell him everything that the guy did before, the guy explains that he has seen a similar thing before at Guildford Hospital where the disabled bays are next to where the hospitals mains electric is.
We pushed the car very gently across the carpark and it started up.
The moral of the story….

….don’t go out for lunch during working hours smile
……and don’t park next to anything with a major electrical current/signal it messes with the immobilizer !

This happens quite a lot near Fylingdales radar base in North Yorks. Vehicles are fine while running, but if they are parked then the immobiliser refuses to turn off. I wonder if the body scanner / X-ray department is next to the power transformer. It would make sense, they do use a lot of power and scanners very intense pulses of energy.
