Hi fellas,
Anyone know how I can test a Motorcraft Electronic Ignition module with a multimeter, as I get absolutely no spark. Strangely everything worked fine up till a couple of weeks ago when it might have fried due to a dodgy connection to the coil...?
It's in pretty bad shape anyway, old and corroded, but I'm suspecting something inside is blown.
Here's a pic...

I just ordered an Accuspark ignition kit, but have been told that it actually won't fit on the factory distributor... frown
Thanks and seasns greetings.
Sean

TBH they are pretty robust but can fail at the drop of a hat though usually coil problems wont do it as the coil is after the modual IE the modual fires the coil via the earth BUT putting a live to the earth with the ign on can backfeed it and blow it.
Here's one on ebay if you decide to get another ?

what's it for, a Mk5 cortina or Mk2 granada ? not thatit matters same unit they just carry the cortina part code (BB) as they were first fitted to the 79 Mk5 cortina 2.3 then later to the granada.

Cheers 'SO What'! I didn't fit the Accuspark as the dizzy shaft and magnet ring didn't match together...
Cut open the old module and tried to solder two wires which were loose inside it and seemed to be making intermittent contact (she was a rather intermittent runner beforehand, and wiggling the plug on the corroded pins usually got her working), but they proved to be impossible to solder - don't know what metal the contacts on the PCB are made of but they just wouldn't take solder at all. Anyway, I probably burned out the components and totaled the module trying that so ended up buying the one you identified below and it works fine, smile She fired-up straight away - phew.
It's for a Mk5 2.3 Cologne V6 in a Mk3 Cortina.
Now to do a tiny bit of sill welding and make a rear tailpipe and she'll be ready for an MOT...!
Thanks for the support.
