Hi all,

I've currently got a 2008 Fiesta ST which I've been looking to upgrade for the last year or so but cannot make my mind up on what I want. Recently I've test drove the new Fiesta ST and loved it, but wondered what people think about it? I've looked at 3-series M sports and VW Sciroccos/Golf GTIs/GTDs too (very different cars).

Advice? I'm looking at spending from £15k to about £20k. Still not sure whether to buy used or new.

Adam.

Have you thought about a Citroen DS3 racing? Last I heard some were still available new.

Not keen on the DS3 tbh, quite like the Golfs and the 3-series though.

I was in a very similar position in September last year - my previous car was a 2008 Fiesta ST and had a max budget of £20k.

My list was used VW, BMW 1 series etc but I ended up going for a brand new Focus ST MK3.

I test drove the new Fiesta ST and Focus ST back to back. I appreciated the extra refinement and better interior of the Focus and the deals were great at the time. Some have commented on the Fiesta ST's harsh ride and noise cruising on the motorway. It was these 2 aspects of my old Fiesta ST that i grew tired of so decided to go for the Focus on that basis.

The Fiesta ST with the mountune upgrade looks great value for money though. Depends what you're after!

I have just bought a Fiesta ST2 ... it arrives in 6 weeks.

I had part exchanged my 2010 BMW 330d LCI M Sport coupe ... a swap basically from a 3 1/2 year old car to a new one. A big difference but I have been using the Beemer less and less as it is big and feels heavy. No complaints at all with the BMW. I recently had it remapped from 245bhp to 305bhp and added new BMW 19" alloys and tyres - but still found the sparkle had gone. It is a brilliant car, never let me down and no rattles + with 305bhp is seriously quick. It looks great and everyone who knows me thinks I am mad.

I wanted something lighter, more agile but still zippy. Having driven two ST2's the Fiesta fits the bill. The ride is no harder in reality than my 330d and whilst it is a lot slower it is easier to drive and enjoy ... thus I was sold on it !

I have asked for the optional Mountune kit to be fitted prior to me picking it up as it reduces the 0-100 time to 15.4. My BMW was 15 as std but is now probably around the 13-13.5 secs area ... so I needed the kit to bring me nearer what I have got used to !
